About us

We’re four profoundly passionate African travel journalists (based in South Africa and Kenya) devoted to writing about our continent and helping others travel it better.

After years of on-the-ground assignments and expeditions, we’ve come to understand that Africa is more arresting, beautiful and extraordinary than people can even imagine.

Yes, there are iconic places such as the Serengeti, Kilimanjaro and Victoria Falls, but there are also another hundred natural wonders just as breathtaking. Every corner of this enormous continent holds something special, surprising and utterly individual. Then there are the spirited people who call these corners home. After all, Africa is not a single story.

Whether it’s swimming with the whale sharks of Mafia Island, understanding the intricacies of Africa’s matriarchal tribes or investigating the ‘other’ wildebeest migration, our dream is to make Africa more accessible to the rest of the world.

We’ve travelled extensively through our home continent, crafting local ties along the way, and know the best, easiest and most affordable ways to see it. Whether helping first-timers discover the delights of safari, outfitting ideas that encourage life-long aficionados to visit emerging destinations or inspiring city submersion, we want to share it all with you.

On our travels, we’ve met inspiring individuals who put the people, wildlife, and land first, trumping self-interest or profit. We’ve teamed up with these high-calibre travel experts, who boast decades of experience, to grant our readers not only a different insight into Africa’s best places to visit and things to do, but to help you get there too.

The natural world is the greatest source of excitement. The greatest source of visual beauty. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living

David Attenborough

If there’s one thing we’ve learned it’s one visit to Africa is never enough and a lifetime of exploring would only leave you wanting more. It’s a love story – no matter who you are or where you’re from – and everyone is invited.

We celebrate Africa’s captivating cultures, individual wonders and wilderness to curate informed journeys for the curious.
